Although significantly watered down from its arcade parent, the Famicom version of Kunio-kun was just as pioneering and influential.
Also released as 'Renegade' outside of Japan, this is one of the great anscestors of the action fighting genre as we know it.

Standard FC cardboard packaging, 1Mbit cartridge, booklet.

Subtitled 'The Further Brawls', this handheld episode sees our boy hit the streets once again in a similar action fighting game, with character designs and gameplay close to Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari (1989).
Quite a fun little game, later released internationally with changed graphics and music as 'Double Dragon II'.

Small-size cardboard GB packaging, 1Mbit cartridge, booklet.

'The Original Hot-blooded Tough Guy' is the series' first outing on SFC.
There's a lot of potential here - but the gameplay is dull and repetitive, and the action is completely diluted by endless amounts of text.
Technos would do a lot better with Return of Double Dragon (Oct 1992).

Cardboard packaging, 8Mbit cartridge, colour booklet.

Kunio-kun's second SFC outing is a similar mix of action and story.
Again it looks very promising at first (dark & moody atmosphere, extra moves, 2P gameplay) but it ultimately looses any sense of tension or pace because of all the text.
Nevertheless the game remains an underground favourite in Japan, and has been steadily gaining value.

SFC packaging, 16Mbit cartridge, colour booklet.

Kunio-kun stomps onto the Nintendo 3DS in this stylish return to the series' street violence of old.
The 'Arcade Mode' is great fun, and the 3D effect is quite good!

Standard 3DS case, 3DS game card, colour booklet.
